A New School
Recent major investment has resulted in the redevelopment of the main school site and a new dedicated Performing Arts and Sports block at Cranworth Road.
The new campus and neighbouring centre consist of:
- A new Sports hall and Performing Arts block
- A Children's Centre
- A Young People's Learning and Lesiure Centre
- An intergrated professional service for local children, young people and their families (The Clifton Project)
School Aims
- To build upon the partnership between staff, governors, parents, pupils and the local community. Everyone has the right and responsibility to play their full part.
- To build our school community on trust, co-operation and respect.
- To respect everyone in Clifton as an individual irrespective of her or his age, race, creed or background.
- To value each other and the environment in which we work. Everyone in our community has the right to feel safe, secure and free from bullying.
- For academic success. Our task together is to recognise and fulfil our potential in all that we do.
- To reward and encourage high standards of work and behaviour in school and the surrounding area. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated but dealt with effectively and fairly.
Specialist Status
Clifton achieved Specialist Performing Arts College status in September 2004. The school is proud of its designation and is determined to offer our young people and their community a quality arts experience that will transform lives.
"Clifton has the proven capacity and capability to ensure that Performing Arts status is used to transform children's lives"
Specialist Status will lead to:
- Clifton teachers and mentors helping to deliver Dance, Music, Drama and Performance within and across our partner primary schools;
- the driving up of standards of attainment in Dance, Music and Drama through exciting and innovative learning experiences;
- the use of the Performing Arts to develop vital technological and communication skills;
- professional artists including choreographers, musicians, poets and composers working alongside young people on a regular basis;
- an ambitious and exciting children's Arts Festival each year;
- the use of creative learning techniques across the curriculum;
- a culture of active participation and excellence.
Our Future...
...is bright! Imagination and hard work over a period of time has helped to raise the profile of Clifton locally and nationally. Both HMI and Ofsted have praised the school’s high standards. Attainment has risen at both KS3 and KS4. Targets and projections for future year groups indicate a continuing upward trend.
We are at a very exciting stage in our development. As well as the steady improvement in attainment, both achievement and attendance levels have also improved. The school is envied for the range of extra-curricular activities we provide with children taking full advantage of the many opportunities to extend their learning before, during, after and out of school. We are determined, however, to do even better.
The potent combination of a new build, major capital investment, Specialist Status and our continued Clifton Partnership provides a real opportunity, and responsibility, to transform children’s lives for the better. It is an opportunity we will not miss!
