Protective Services at Wickersley Sixth Form

Are you looking for a career in the Police, Fire Department, Prison Service or Armed Forces?

Wickersley Sixth Form are offering a brand new course Protective Services to students enrolling in Sept 2018.

Protective service is for learners who are interested in learning about the protective services sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses. The course focuses on aspects of the police, fire, prison and armed forces. We are looking to offer an extended certificate and diploma pathway for students interested in a protective service career.

16-18 Summer Travel Pass

The new 16-18 Travel Pass

From 1 July the new 16-18 Travel Pass will be available for all 16-18 year olds living in South Yorkshire, including those in apprenticeships and employment, enabling them to access discounted travel across the region.

For the first time the pass will also be valid during August, allowing young people in this age bracket to travel all year round for the concessionary fare of 80p per single journey on bus and tram, half price rail fare on Northern rail services, as well as benefit from a range of operator discounted tickets on production of a 16-18 Travel Pass.

 

11-16 MegaTravel Pass

There will be no changes for young people aged 11-16 who can continue to benefit from discounted fares across South Yorkshire, including 80p fares on bus and tram, half price rail fare on Northern rail services and value for money operator tickets, with the MegaTravel Pass.

 

Eligibility

All young people aged 16-18 living in South Yorkshire are eligible for a 16-18 Travel Pass, including those in apprenticeships and employment.

Passes will be valid from 1 July, and can be used as soon individuals receive them.

Passes will be valid for two years and will have an expiry date of the 31 July of the second year in further education, apprenticeship or employment.

 

How to apply

The quickest way to apply for a 16-18 Travel Pass is online by using a MyTSY account.  Full details will be available at http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/1618TravelPass/ in the near future.

Applications can be made from 1 July and passes should be processed within 10 working days.

3aaa Sheffield Academy Open Day

3aaa Apprenticeships Sheffield Academy would like to invite you to our open day. This will give you the chance to get to know us and what we do. Staff and Apprentices will be available to interact with you to show the benefits of Apprenticeships.

This is the perfect opportunity to find out all about the Apprenticeships we offer. Employers will be able to find their perfect Apprentice and Apprentices can speak to employers we have relationships with in South Yorkshire in order to find their perfect opportunity.

We have Apprentices ready to start their Level 3 Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing, ICT and Business Admin.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust (RUCST) awarded The Duke of York’s Community Initiative

 Rotherham United Community Sports Trust (RUCST) is celebrating royal recognition after being awarded the Duke of York’s Community Initiative.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust is one of just 42 Yorkshire based community groups, who in its latest round of awards have been recognised by the prestigious royal reward scheme The Duke of York’s Community Initiative.

RUCST works alongside Rotherham United Football Club to bring a better standard of living to various groups across the borough of Rotherham.

The Trust is a community development programme that works across the borough of Rotherham in deprived areas with different communities and age groups, delivering under the three main themes of the Football League Trust: Education, Health & Wellbeing and Sport and Community Development.
Through the power of football RUCST promote physical and emotional health, healthy eating, healthy lifestyle, learning, confidence building, social integration and community cohesion.

The award is in recognition of the work that we in the community and voluntary sector do every day to make a difference. Education Academy open events announced

At Rotherham United Community Sports Trust our Education Academy delivers a number of high quality sports courses in Further and Higher Education.

We pride ourselves on excellence by ensuring that all of our teachers are fully qualified and provide learners with the latest resources and technology, in order to enhance learning.

Our brand new state of the art facility, ‘The Goal Zone’ is situated within The New York Stadium and boasts 3 classrooms, an office and a health space, which provides alternative methods to fitness testing. Our practical space is located at Parkgate Astro and consists of 3 3G pitches which are used for the training and coaching elements of our programmes.

Gemini-Auto Repair Centres have vacancies available and are actively looking to recruit Y11 students interested in automotive careers this summer.

Students can apply to complete a 5 day placement first, after their exams, that will allow them to:

  • Experience the industry first hand
  • Develop their skills and knowledge of the job
  • Check the employer is right for them
  • Find out more about the apprenticeship programme
  • Day 5 – Progress straight through to an interview and apprenticeship!

Year 10 Taster Event

All of our year 10’s will be involved in our Taster event on Thursday 30th March 1.55PM. 

Students will have an opportunity to meet with professionals representing a wide range of training and employment sectors.  This event will inspire students as they plan their next steps.
