Overview of KS3

In Year 7 you will study a range of subjects including:

  • Introduction to Geography & Map skills.
  • Weather & Climate
  • Tropical Rain Forests
  • Weather Hazards

In Year 8 you will focus mainly on crime and look at subjects such as:

  • Environmental Issues
  • Earning a Living
  • Tectonics
  • Rivers & Floods

In Year 9 your focus will be on amazing places and you will look at subjects such as:

  • Coasts
  • Urbanisation
  • Population
  • Tourism

Overview of KS4

Paper 1: Living with the physical environment

• The challenge of natural hazards (tectonic hazards, weather hazards and climate change)

• The living world (ecosystems, tropical rainforests and deserts)

• Physical landscapes in the UK (coastal landscapes and river landscapes)

Paper 2: Challenges in the human environment

• Urban issues and challenges (urbanisation and sustainable urban living)

• The changing economic world (globalisation and development)

• The challenge of resource management (with a focus on energy resources)

Paper 3: Geographical applications

• Issue evaluation (critical thinking and problem-solving using pre-leased material)

• Fieldwork (two geographical enquires which both involve collecting primary data)
