On Wednesday Mr Davis and Mr Rowlands took the Year 8’s into their second successive semi final this time in the main Rotherham Schools Cup against last years winners Aston.
The 1st half started out frantically with both teams failing to settle, Aston took hold of the game with their physical dominance (that being 4 kids of at least 6ft) after a succession of throw ins they took the lead and shortly after made it 2-0. We dug deep and showed great spirit towards the end of the first half after great play down the left resulted in the ball coming to Jensen who was brought down for a penalty. Finley stepped up and made it 2-1. We pushed on and could have drew level through Marek Sivak but his shot was cleared off the line.
The second half begun very much the same as the first with neither team getting going. It was again Aston who settled and took control of the game. Our lads kept plugging away but their effort wasn’t justified when Aston broke away and made it 3-1. With 5 minutes to go we had to push and try and get a goal which left us open in defence and Aston made it 4-1.
We may have lost the semi final this year but we have got a great team spirit and they will continue to improve which make us stronger next year.
Well done for your efforts!
