Proms in the Park

On Saturday 10th September Clifton pupils went to watch Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra perform in Clifton Park.  Part of the Rotherham Festival, this was the first Proms in the Park, organised in partnership with Rotherham Music service to celebrate classical music.   The programme was bursting with classics such as Puccini’s famous aria ‘O mio babbino caro’, ‘The Dambusters theme’ by British composer Eric Coates and Henry Wood’s ‘Fantasia on British Sea Songs’.

This was the first time that several of the pupils had seen a live orchestra in action and it has greatly enhanced their musical experience. In the words of one pupil, it was ‘awesome’!
