Year 7 English Cenotaph Trip

Last week on, remembrance day, a group of Y7 pupils went to see the tributes left at the Clifton Park cenotaph during their English lesson. The pupils are all studying the novel Private Peaceful, set in WW1, and they wanted to find out more about some of the experiences the characters may have gone through.

During the visit the pupils worked through activities to find out information about the cenotaph and also the memorial gardens. After visiting the cenotaph, pupils also went to look at the oldest tree in the park, which has bullets holes from WW1!

The pupils had a brilliant time and found out lots of information about the history of our local soldiers. They also enjoyed reading the tributes and cards left at the Cenotaph.
