University of Sheffield Research Project

Students from Clifton Community School took part in a research project at the University of Sheffield. The group met in the school holidays to reflect on things that are important to them but also to explore culture, stories and art.

The group planned and organised an exhibition of their work, showcasing images, photos, textile bunting and film, which was attended by the university’s top academics.

The students also took turns showing visitors around the exhibition and answering questions about their work as well as their lives, culture and perceptions of learning and university.

Clifton students welcome visitors from Bahrain

Chol Theatre’s Imaginary Communities project welcomed a group of 20 students from Bahrain who travelled to the UK with the ‘BLC Language School’.  The students worked with Chol Theatre for a week in West Yorkshire, devising, scripting and shooting their very own film.  The students were keen to visit South Yorkshire and meet some of the students from Clifton School who also worked closely with Chol Theatre on a residential during Easter this year.

The students met the Y11’s and shared their experiences over lunch.  In the afternoon the students were given a tour around the school and joined in with some English lessons to get a real feel of school life at Clifton.  The students were impressed with the facilities in the school and enjoyed talking to the Y11’s who were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
