Netball Fixture V Oakwood

The girls had a fixture last night against Oakwood at Cranworth Road. The year 7’s had a good turn out with 11 players. Chisom stepped up and played for the y9’s which was a very nice gesture. We had some debut players in Billie-Jo, Skye and Lola.

Although it was a close game the girls, unfortunately, came short by 2 goals, they had an excellent game showing a better performance working together as a team. With Billie-Jo playing a key role as centre holding the team together making great interceptions and movements for the ball. Alexandra and Darcie made a great defensive team making it difficult for Oakwood to score. Skie also played brilliantly for her first ever netball game.

Oakwood awarded Neve player of the match with another strong performance from our captain.

All girls played brilliantly, they are forming a strong team to go forward into future fixtures. Please congratulate all girls on their performance.

The Y8’s continued their excellent run of form tonight with a convincing 18-9 win over Oakwood. The girls worked really hard against a much taller opposition. The game was close for the first two quaters but Taylor Kelsall was on fire with her shooting to ensure we pulled away in the second half, this was helped by Zaneerah and Qirath’s excellent work feeding the ball to her.

The whole team are improving week by week which is a real pleasure to see.

Y9 Netball Tournament Away At Wales

Wales held the Y9 netball tournament last night. After hours of after school and lunchtime practices, the girls arrived with a confident head on their shoulders.

We were put into a category with Wickersley, Aston, Wath and Maltby and all delivered very strong teams. Despite this the girls gave their all from the first game to the last, making it very difficult for the opposing teams.
Despite the results, it’s the best I have seen the girls play, incorporating all of the skill and tactics they’ve focused on in extra practice.
It would be unfair of me to pinpoint a ‘player of the tournament’ as every single girl on that court gave their all, they played as a unit and demonstrated some great netball. I am so unbelievably proud of them all and how far they have come, they were a credit to the school and themselves.
If you see them, please congratulate them for their efforts.

The Year 7 Netballers were in a tough draw for their tournament last night and although the results did not all go our way, they did have a good win against Thybergh and a couple of well fought draws against Wales and Maltby.

It was a great night with a great group of girls.
