On Thursday 12th March, 11 Year 8 students attended Teen Tech 2015 at Doncaster Racecourse.
TeenTech is an interactive experience designed to inspire young teenagers about careers in the contemporary world of Science, Engineering and Technology. The Y8 students had the opportunity to look at many of the exhibits there and all had the opportunity to have hands on experience on how science, technology and engineering can be used.
In the morning, the students had to design a gadget that would make life easier in the future; they came up with the idea of the flexi-phone which they then had to market and present to students from other schools. Our imaginative students were awarded with certificates for the “Best Gadget” !
In the afternoon, the students learnt about electric guitar design and how scientists designed the probes which are able to land safely on Mars – this activity saw the students designing parachutes which would allow an egg to safely land without breaking. The students were an absolute credit to the school and a fun day was had by all.
