Last night the Y7 boys travelled to Dinnington to compete in the Y7 Futsal tournament. We were disappointed on arrival to see that some of the other schools had failed to attend but we still got 3 games and the lads had a good experience. We took the lead in the first game against the hosts with a well taken goal from Bradley. We pressed high looking for the second goal to put the contest to bed and were ultimately caught out by a strong counter attacking Dinnington game. We lost 3-1 but were disappointed as we had so much possession.
Our second game was a close afair as we locked horns with Wingfield. We were unlucky to lose 2-0 and but for a couple of great saves from the Wingfield goalkeeper, the result could have gone our way. The third game was a bit of a lesson as overall winners Wickersley bossed possession, chances and goals. Our boys were beginning to tire at this point. We suffered a heavy defeat but there was no real shame in that as Wickersley inflicted heavy defeats on all the teams they played. Full credit to our boys, they kept going and showed good levels of effort and a supportive spirit towards one another. It was a learning experience and hopefully we will be ready to close the gap the next time we meet.
The boys in our team were:
They did themselves proud and will no doubt improve when they are back in the capable hands of regular manager Mr Gurran!
