Our Year 11 Boys traveled to Dinnington for their second game of the season where we came away with the victory that our play deserved.
Following an excellent display in the cup at Oakwood last Friday we started the game in confident fashion passing the ball quickly along the ground. We were unlucky not to take the lead sooner but when the goal came it was worth the wait. Louis who scored a great goal last time outscored an even better one, firing in from distance after a strong run.
We took control of the game and should have added to our tally through Connor who managed to hit the post on two different occasions. Our pressure was mounting though and it finally told when Amaan slotted home from a one on one. We came in at the break 2-0 in front after an excellent goal-saving tackle from captain Declan.
The second half was going to plan until a mistake at the back allowed Dinnington a foothold in the game. Our boys stuck to their style of play though and we struck back through a deflected effort from Amaan. We then appeared to put the result beyond doubt with Henrik’s first goal for the team. He finished low into the corner after good work from his cousin Jose.
We then allowed Dinnington back into the match with another lapse of concentration at the back but unlike Friday night, we weren’t to be denied. Connor finally got the goal he was looking for and a sublime lob from the returning Reece gave the final score the gloss our play deserved as we ran out 6-2 winners.
Rio handled very well in goal while Brendan and Ethan both put in powerful performances at the back. In midfield, Jose was superb but was just edged out by Louis for Man of the Match.
Our next fixture is this Saturday when we travel to Wath.
