Last night Mr Fisher took the Y11 boys to a Futsal (5 a-side) competition at Dinnington.
We finished 3rd overall (tied on points with 2nd place) in Rotherham and were one result away from making the national finals.
We lost our first game 3-1 against the eventual winner Wingfield. We genuinely felt if we had met them when we had hit our stride, the result could have been different. Josh was our scorer. We drew our next game 2-2 with Wales. We were the better side in this game and conceded late. Our scorers were Louis and Jack. We found another gear in game 3, comfortably dispatching the hosts Dinnington 4-1. Josh scored all 4 with some excellent finishes.
We pressed on and beat Aston 3-0 in our next game. Josh once more scored all of our goals, two of which were brilliantly created by Jack. Our last game saw us lock horns with Wickersley. We were again the better team and Josh scored his 9th and 10th goals of the evening to give us a 2-1 victory. Rio kept goal well throughout and the defensive pair of Skipper Brendan and Jack helped to keep us tight at the back. Jose in midfield showed his range of passing while Louis worked tirelessly to create chances in every game. Josh led the line brilliantly.
We were really disappointed that we dropped the points in the opening match which ultimately made the difference but the lads were a credit to themselves and our school. The most pleasing aspect was the quality of the Football that we played. This was commented upon by staff from several other schools.
