Y7 & Y8 Netball Wins

Year 8 were back in action last night against a strong Wales team made up of 2 squads. Our girls dominated the game from start to finish. Danielle, Alisha and Leyla ensured that Wales could not get close to scoring for the majority. Lailla bossed Centre Court and was awarded player of the game. Four girls rotated up top to ensure we scored plenty of goals.

Our girls secured a comfortable 6-1 win, but the most pleasing part was how they conducted themselves as a squad. They are mature, competitive and supportive but most importantly are proud to represent Clifton.

Well done to, Danielle, Alisha, Iqra, Iqrah, Phoebe, Lailla, Leyla, Mohja and Keren.

Year 7 Netball Team played against Wales High School.

From the start, the girls passing was controlled and accurate. This enabled them to take an early lead which they kept hold of throughout and eventually led them to a 5-3 victory.

The girls are growing in confidence every week and are really keen to learn, so please congratulate them all when you see them. Special mentions go-to player of the game, Husna, for her brilliantly timed passing & to Tia, who constantly found great space in her first-ever game.

Well done girls!

Indoor Athletics Competition

On Tuesday 14th January our Y7 Indoor Athletics teams competed at a Rotherham Schools event hosted by Rawmarsh. Despite a lack of experience in this type of competition, the pupils gave a really strong account of themselves firstly through their performances but also through their conduct and support of one another. They also showed good organisation skills making sure that every event was covered. One of the most pleasing things to see was the will of our pupils to do their absolute best. The runners made this apparent with their attitude of making sure they finished one place better than it looked as though they were going to. Just gaining one extra place meant extra points to our tally. We were never outclassed in any event and there were some very impressive performances from all involved. Due to the format of the evening and number of heats, It is not possible to give final positions or placings. Although we didn’t make the top 2 teams who go on to compete in the South Yorkshire  Championships, every Athlete from every school knew they had been in a battle against our spirited side.
