Clifton at Twickenham
/in School News /by Alex DudleyOn Sunday 23rd February 2020, Mr Duroe and Mr Fisher had the pleasure of taking 7 of our young Rugby players on a once in a lifetime visit to Twickenham for the England v Ireland 6 Nations clash. Our school was selected as one of the top 4 in the country for promoting the RFU’s All Schools programme, which aims to get young people involved in Rugby.
Our reward was the opportunity for some of our Year 7 and 8 pupils to play on the hallowed Twickenham turf as a curtain-raiser to the main event and form a guard of honour for the England and Ireland teams as they took to the arena. The pupils showed what they have learned with some impressive performances in the small-sided games, with several of them now able to say that they have scored a try at the home of Rugby.
They were able to wear the Clifton kit that was designed by some of their fellow pupils as a further part to the RFU’s scheme. Faced with the daunting prospect of a capacity 82,000 crowd at kick-off time, the boys rose to the challenge of providing the guard of honour and flag-bearing for the two teams during the National Anthems. Once their official duties were completed they were able to relax and enjoy a dominant performance from England as they completed a 24-12 victory over their visitors. The boys were a real credit to themselves and to our school.
Well done to everyone who took part!

Y9 and Y10 Sheffield University Visits
/in School News /by Alex DudleyOn Thursday, a group of Y10 students attended the ‘Princes in the Tower’ event at the University of Sheffield, where they used historical and osteoarchaeological evidence to try to solve a crime from the 1800s. This culminated in an afternoon court case scene where they had to present their findings to a panel of judges.
On Friday, a group of Y9 students attended both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University for a Unified day. They were given a tour of both universities and completed activities with university students that covered economics, geography and careers.

Year 7 Tesco Bag Packing
/in School News /by Alex DudleyOn Saturday, Y7 students completed four hours of bag packing at the local Tesco to raise money for the sports residential. Members of the public stopped to speak to us on their way out to feedback how smart our students looked and how polite they were whilst helping pack their shopping bags. We managed to raise a total of £360.42, which will be split and taken off each students total.
Well done to everyone who took part!
