The Curriculum

Clifton students follow a broad and balanced curriculum that enables them to leave school both able and qualified to play their full part in the world. We know that not every student is the same, but want to allow all of our students the chance to study EBacc subjects and pursue a range of creative and vocational subjects. Students are mainly grouped based on ability and this allows lessons to be pitched at appropriate levels so all students are challenged to reach beyond their potential.

All students follow a timetable of 20 lessons per week. Targeted students who require additional literacy and numeracy support to facilitate them being able to access all learning have an additional layer taught by skilled subject specialists to accelerate their progress.

In Y7 & 8, students all follow a fixed KS3 curriculum, comprising a broad and balanced curriculum as outlined below.

Y9, 10 & 11 make up our KS4. During KS4, students will study their core subjects alongside the subjects they have chosen as their options. A list of the full subjects available to take as an option can be found on the subject page of the school website.

If you have any queries or questions relating to the Curriculum, please contact Mrs Jo Mather, Assistant Headteacher, jmather@cliftonschool.org.
