Congratulations to all of our students who have been awarded ‘Stars of the Week’ in their English lessons. Students were awarded their star status for excellent effort in lessons and high quality of work. The accolade is open to all year groups and every member of the English Department nominates one girl and one boy each.

Our Year 10 Hospitality students will be hosting Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Wednesday 23rd September 2015 as a practice for their controlled assessment!
As a part of the event, we are offering Clifton students a Bake-Off challenge! Students who wish to take part will need to produce 12 identical examples of their bake from one of the following categories:
- Cupcakes / buns
- Pastry products
- Cakes (12 slices)
- Biscuit/cookie/tray bake
- International food.
Entry forms are available from T4. Students wishing to enter must bring their baked products to T4 on the 22nd or 23rd September together with their entry forms. One example of the student’s bake will be used to judge the competition, with the remaining 11 being sold to raise money for Macmillan! Certificates and prizes will be awarded to those who donate a bake – Good luck!
On Thursday 1st October 2015, we will be holding a Group Tutor Evening for all year groups.
The evening will run from 5.00pm until 7.30pm and will be an opportunity for parents and carers to meet their child’s group tutor to discuss their progress as well as to find out how we will be supporting them this academic year. Group Tutors will be making contact with parents to arrange an appointment.

On the last day of term before the summer break, Year 7 students took part in a ‘Maths Day’; a day full of exciting mathematics activities. Students worked in teams competing across four zones; Puzzle, Logic, Relay and Head-to-Head. At the end of the day, The top three teams were awarded prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. 1st place winners took home £10, 2nd received £5 and 3rd place students were given a maths stationary set!

All the students really got in to the spirit of the day with great effort and enthusiastic; a fantastic new tradition for our students!
Each week, every Science teacher will nominate one Key Stage 3 and one Key Stage 4 pupil to be named ‘Scientist of the Week’. Winners will receive a certificate along with pride of place on the ‘Scientist of the Week’ display board on the Science corridor, as well as a mention on the ‘big screens’ in school, the website and the Facebook page!

On Friday, Student Councillors from Rawmarsh Community School visited Clifton for a Joint Student Council day with their counterparts here at Clifton School.
As well as touring the school and experiencing lessons, they met as a group to share ideas and views on learning, reward systems and school environment resulting in some very lively and thoughtful debate. The meeting had very positive outcomes and Clifton Student Councillors look forward to visiting Rawmarsh in autumn to continue discussions.
