Brightline At Clifton

On Tuesday 12 March the school was host to the band ‘Brightline’ from the Message Trust.  They came into school to do a series of assembly style gigs focusing on self-esteem and self-worth.  Throughout the day Y7-10 participated in these gigs and found the experience very positive.  They really enjoyed the music and whole heartedly embraced the message.  The school was buzzing with students talking about how good the band were.

Their behaviour throughout each performance was brilliant and as you can see from the pictures they were giving it everything!  My thanks go to the students for their attitude and approach to the whole day, the band for their message and the unique delivery of it and finally to the staff, in the performances with their classes, who also joined in with the experience and led the students to feel comfortable and secure with our visitors.

Christmas Concert 2017

The annual Christmas Concert took place on Tuesday 19th December with almost 60 pupils from Y7-11 performing to a jam-packed audience of family, friends and staff!

Soul Band opened and closed the show with a spectacular Stevie Wonder medley and our own version of ‘Fairytale of New York’.  We had debut performances by Ellie Haywood in Y8, our Y7 beginner saxophonists (Boris Abaffy, Helena Benakova and Tayyub Rashid), and our 30-strong Y7 choir singing their hearts out to ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’.  Several of the Clifton Factor Finalists performed too, as soloists and as an ensemble with ‘Band Aid 30’.

We also had highlight performances from seasoned musicians in Y10 and Y11, including ‘Faded’ by Landon Drabble, ‘Can’t Stop’ by Chelsea Swift, Juste Ziulpaite, Deniz Erkal and Mat Orme, ‘Oh Ms Believer’ by Music Leaders Alice Hardy and Leonie Mounsey and ‘Sunshine of Your Love’ by Y11s Mario Gabor, Laura Janova, Nikolas Patkan and Leonard Mata.

We are incredibly of all of our musicians and the progress they have made this term – well done to all involved!

Thankyou to everyone who came along and we wish you a very merry Christmas!
