Y7/8 Cricket team to face a very strong Wath team in the Cup

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Wath got off to a flyer with some big boundaries and good running between the wickets. To add to their positive start our lads looked nervous, giving away a few wides and dropping 3 crucial catches. However once we settled, our bowling and fielding improved, with Wahleed, Ismael and Jazib all taking wickets. After 20 overs Wath finished on an impressive142-5.
Batting proved just as difficult initially, with Jazib getting caught early on. However a flick down leg side for 4 soon settled Fayzaan down, who battled hard to steady the ship! As the wickets tumbled the lads reminded positive, taking their time and playing some solid defensive shots before trying to get some runs on the board. Unfortunately for us their bowling was relentless, with 4 members of their team who represent South Yorkshire demonstrated their impressive line and length. Our lads all out for a respectable 62.

Our first loss of the season but one that we can learn from! A lot to work on but the lads know they are only going to get better from gaining experience.

They did us proud and represented the school brilliantly – with their teacher and watching parents commenting on how polite they were. Please give them a well done if you see them.
